| "Where
every single hand makes a difference!" |
Take on a leadership role with SVSF and add
muscle to your resume. We have open positions in the following
areas:
 |
NON-PROFIT LIAISON
WHAT
IT IS: You contact local non profits to let them know who we are and
what we do. You explain
how our projects are designed (emphasize Team approach) and refer
them to our website www.svsf.org to submit a volunteer request.
WHAT IT ISN’T: You are not being asked to create an entire event
or fundraiser for the non profit agency-- that is their job!
We just staff the special events or projects that THEY plan!
|
 |
EVENT
LIAISON
WHAT
IT IS: Once an agency has submitted their request for volunteers,
you contact them and review their needs (number of volunteers,
dates, hours, location). You
then write up a blurb explaining the agency's needs in such a way to
recruit other volunteers for the project and explain the background
information to the Event Leader so s/he can be prepared for the
event.
WHAT IT ISN’T: You are not expected to plan the entire event for
the non-profit, or even attend the project, for that matter, (the
Event Leader will do that!) but just get all relevant info together
and share it with the other volunteers :)
|
 |
EVENT
LEADER
WHAT IT IS: You sign up for a project that interests you.
Once you get to the location, you introduce yourself to our host
agency contact, welcome our volunteers, introduce them to one
another, and take roll call to be sure no one is missing. You
take a few photos of our volunteers in action, if you can. After the
event, you prepare a short blurb thanking the volunteers for their
help and providing an update for those who did not attend :)
WHAT
IT ISN’T: You are not expected to be there to solve all the non
profit's glitches, but just act as liaison between the volunteers
and the non-profit host agency to make sure that the volunteers are
not being asked to do things that they did not volunteer for (such
as making personal donations or volunteering separately from the
group.)
|
 |
P.R.
LIAISON
WHAT IT IS: Think of places where potential volunteers congregate or
are likely to be open to hearing about Single Volunteers of South
Florida and prepare and distribute some information on what we do
and how to join. Get creative, there is currently no budget
for this!
WHAT
IT ISN’T: You don't have to make everything up from scratch
(unless you want to) there is a lot of information available on the
website and we do have some materials that were previously created
to get the word out to volunteers.
|
 |
MARKETING
GURU
WHAT IT IS: You contact businesses who you think may be interested
in marketing to a group of community conscious single men and women
over 21. Let them know that we are a non-profit and that their
donation is tax-deductible.
WHAT
IT ISN’T: You do not need to sell them anything, just provide
information about the demographics of our group and see if they are
interested in getting their name out to our volunteers :)
|
 |
GRANT
WRITER
WHAT IT IS: You contact foundations and other grant awarding
entities for their grant guidelines; then write the grant and submit
it to me for final approval, then submit it to the agency for
funding.
WHAT IT ISN’T: You don't have to create everything from scratch,
we have a lot of information on our website and other materials that
were prepared outlining our non-profit goals and objectives. We are
already recognized at a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit charitable
organization.
|
 |
INTERNET
GURU
WHAT IT IS: You periodically update the website as needed with event
photos, policy changes, forms, etc. and help decide where to
promote-post our group and help with internet-related
administration.
WHAT IT ISN’T: You don't have to create a website from scratch--
the structure is already there!
