Volunteer Orientations/Open Meetings

Information on upcoming meetings below:

Date: Saturday, January 31 2009

TIME: 2:30 to 3:30 pm

Location: Deerfield Beach

Remember to bring your Volunteer Application & Volunteer Agreement!

Open meetings are for new members to find out more about SVSF and for current members to bring their ideas and offers of help!  Come one come all and help SVSF help make our community a better place to be!

Admission to the open meeting will be 1 (one) new and unopened package of socks or underwear for men, women or children :)

We try to alternate meeting locations to cover the South Florida area.  You may attend any meeting, regardless of the county you live in, depending on what's most convenient for you.  ***Since we have limited space available, exact meeting location will be provided in confirmation emails to those who sign up, so we have an idea of how many are attending.***

To sign up for the meeting, please write to SFCares@yahoo.com and put  "Deerfield Beach Meeting" in the subject line.

If you are interested in a Board or Leadership position, please specify that in your email as well :)

SVSF Leadership

Calling all SVSF'ers!! We are looking for volunteers to take on a leadership role with SVSF. Whatever your interests are, we have a leadership role for you!  Marketing, website updates, events planning, volunteer socials, communications, fundraising, historian, etc; etc...

Could any of these roles be for you???  Check out our current "job descriptions" to pick what fits!

Do you have a special interest that’s dear to your heart?  Do you think SVSF should have more volunteer projects that cover that interest?  Well why not!  Why don't you create and lead an event surrounding that special interest?

  • How many low-income elderly are there down the street that could really use the hands of some single volunteers because their homes are falling down around them?

  • Have you ever just gone to an animal shelter to stick your fingers through the fences of each pen just to give some lonely dogs and cats a little human contact?

For each of these ideas, how difficult would it be to get 5 or 10 other volunteer members to help you?  If you did, then guess what?  You’ve created and led an event!!  It’s not that hard.  Training and step-by-step coaching is available :)

Take the challenge! Become an SVSF Leader, write to SFCares@yahoo.com and put "leader" in the subject line-- your community will thank you :)

CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING!

Great news on the Volunteer front!!! South Florida Cares has decided to expand its volunteer services to include corporate volunteerism.

Let the HR person at your company know that you are an SVSF volunteer and that the whole company could also volunteer through the "Corporate Volunteers" program.

Please email us at SFCares@yahoo.com and let us know who you would like us to contact at your workplace.  Should you or your HR person have any questions about this program, please contact us at South Florida Cares SFCares@yahoo.com.  Share the joy of volunteering with your colleagues!
